Transmeta Crusoe
Designed to the fastest chip in the world (1999). Slot A looks much like slot 1, but changes made so as not to infringe in Intel’s the patented Intel slot design.

Designed to run like a Pentium. Drop into socket normally designed for a Pentium (Socket: 7). Temperatures ran too hot so AMD redesigned this chip to the K6

Look for name on chip.. Designed to compete with Pentium II. Supports MMX codes.

MMX graphics and 3D-Now! Technology. Designed for faster multimedia applications.Supports AGP and 100 MHz buss. Requires a Super 7 motherboard.

Look for name on Chip. Designed to compete against Pentium III. Runs faster and at cheaper price. Supports MMX graphics and AMD 3D-Now! Technology.

Pentium Compatible. Runs too hot, cots was too much. Cant handle math as will as the competition. Not a big hit with gamers. Check motherboard manual for possible upgrades.

Designed to compete with MMX and AMD K6Cyrix was bought by Via Technologies in 1999.

Slot M

Somewhat slow and run very hot. Fits in Socket 7 Slot. Chips can sometimes be upgraded by either Kingston Technology or Evergreen. Technologies. Intel may have an overdrive chip. See Web Site section of this Document.

These processors calculate at speeds over 1 GHz.

Does not lay flat on motherboard like its predecessors. Chip is enclosed in a card and slides into a special slot. Card is referred to as a SEC -- Single Edge Cartridge.
Chip is similar to a Pentium Pro with MMX multimedia capabilities added on. See Evergreen Technology for Upgrades.

Inside logo says Celron. Intel decreased the built in cache of the Xeon and labeled it Celron.

Made for places where as many as eight computer may be linked together. Built in Ram cache or speed. Fits in a Slot 2

Look for “Pentium!!!” More Multimedia capabilities than Pentiums II. Each one stamped with identifying serial number (Welcome Big Brother.). Xeons have more multimedia and a higher price.Note: Serial number should be disabled in BIOS. If not disabled a hacker can steal the number while you are on-line.

Some higher end Pentium III processors use this slot.

Look for Itanium under the “Intel Inside” trademark. Earlier chips processed information in 32 bit chunks. The Itanium processes in 64 bit chunks.

A Pentium chip with extended multimedia capabilities added to it.

A Pentium chip upgraded for network servers. Contains cache to speed things up. Labeled like a Pentium Chip. Can be upgraded to a faster chip by Kingston Technology or Evergreen. Technologies. See Web Site section of this Document.

Designed mainly for laptops. Needs less power. Runs cooler. Adjusts power consumption based on task it is performing. Unveiled in year 2000 Requires its own special slot.
